A chapter 7 fee can vary among law firms. What you pay will average anywhere from $900 – $1600, depending on the complexity of the situation. This charge includes our fee, the court filing fees and the credit counseling. Half of the fee is due after our initial meeting with the attoreny, when you bring to us the completed bankruptcy forms/packet and other paperwork that has been requested to start your bankruptcy petition. After the filing of your bankruptcy, the remaining amount is due prior to your court appearance. Unlike some law firms, you actually meet with a lawyer for up to an hour to discuss your bankruptcy situation and what other remedies are available. At the end of the meeting, we will inform you how much it will cost to file and tell you which option is best for you. The fee we charge includes the filing of and representing you in bankruptcy court. It also includes a review of your debts, a case review for any other potential claims you may have against a mortgage company, debt collector or car dealership as well.
The initial cost is only $424 for joint or $408 for a single individual filing. This includes the filing fee and counseling service. Our fee is paid over the course of the bankruptcy plan, which can take up to 5 years. That is a set court rate of $3,000.00. Our fee is paid out of what the debtor has to pay to the bankruptcy trustee. Generally, a debtor only has to pay the filing fee and counseling service as required at the time of the filing.
Should you have any questions about any of our fees, feel free to contact us by phone or email to discuss further.
